say I have a pair of speakers & an HDTV; is that everything?
I don't yet have an HDTV, but I plan/hope to get one in January (I get a rather large check then..well, large compared to what i usually have to spend...). the main reason I want to get one is to negate the need for a shelf system and quit living with such outdated technology...but I'm somewhat doubtful the HL26B on Amazon has such Great Sound output, so I figure I could get some Sony shelf speakers (the $50 pair I saw on Amazon a few months ago, if they're still available...), but is that all I need? Do I need an amplifier and/or receiver or anything else that costs more than $20? I *think* I might need to get some Speaker Wire, but I guess I'll find that out after I get the speakers...(??)...
If your going to add speakers then you will need an a/v receiver and (for Surround Sound) you'll need 5 speakers and a sub-woofer. For now, I'd just buy the tv and forgo the surround sound until you have the $. A decent Surround Sound System will cost as much (or more than) the TV.
